Book Review: Postcards From Memory by Samir Satam

Book: Postcards From Memory

Author: Samir Satam

ISBN 9383306157 (ISBN13: 9789383306152)

About the contents: Wow! This is an incredible book. The poems have been categorised under 10 headings, which helps you to skip to any topic you like (Read all of it, or you'll regret :p). The poet has touched so many aspects of life. There are some things that appear to us so commonplace, so ordinary. But the poet has turned these simple things into extraordinary. You can relate to every poem, every word of it. Samir makes even having a cup of coffee or a sizzling brownie sound romantic.

Simple gestures seem philosophical, and add to it, simple language and subtle metaphors. Variety of thought and transformation of ordinary into extraordinary. These are not the only things this book of poems is about. It's about life, every face of it, good and bad, tough and easy. A heap of praise can't do justice to the book. Read it for yourself. You'll enjoy every word of it.

Editing is thoroughly professional, that is such a rare thing in Indian publishing industry. FSP deserves a word of appreciation for that. (Y)
